Today was cloudy with false promises of rain so I stayed inside and worked on my Georgia coast  images. Since it was a great  "photocation" with photographer friends, I have a few pictures to process (OK, there's 700 or so!)

A  walk along the pier would have made a perfect evening when we dined at the Aruba Beach Café in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea (yes, that really is the name of the town!).  Unfortunately the pier, first built in 1941 and subsequently rebuilt after hurricanes, has been closed by the city fathers for code violations.  We had to settle for watching the waves from the beach.

South Beach is part of the San Juan National Park, overlooking the Straight of Juan de Fuca and Haro Straight where the whales sometimes pass. Across the strait lies Port Townsend at the foot of the Olympic Mountains. To the northwest is Vancouver Island British Columbia and to the southwest is Whidbey Island.  I should have stayed longer.

This snow and 20-degree weather makes me nostalgic for the beach -- even those rainy, overcast days in autumn.  Actually my favorite times at the beach are spring and fall -- leave the hot days for the summer crowd.
