Austin dog walker

If the "Putting on the Dog" exhibit offered a prize for most dogs in a photo, I would have won!  This dog walker spotted in Austin had nine in tow!  While working in Austin this spring, my friend suggested I visit Stevie Ray Vaughan, Austin's adopted son -- little did I know that Town Lake was also dog heaven!

 making it big in Nashville

The Statler Brothers in "How to Be a Country Star" advise getting a gimmick.  This guitar player's gimmick appears to be the Boston Terrier.  I don't know if the musician will make it as a country star but he's getting the dog sympathizers.  Unfortunately the image didn't make it into the "Putting on the Dog" exhibit.

happy

Poor Happy.  Happy, a shelter dog of rat terrier/Chihuahua mix, is the shop mascot for Juxtaposh.  She was one of my entries in the 7th annual "Putting on the Dog" exhibit at the International Cultural Center.  Unfortunately, Happy wasn't selected for the show.  Come to the reception on Friday, July 8 to see which two of my submissions were selected.

doggie in the window

The "call for entries" for the 7th annual "Putting on the Dog" exhibit at the International Cultural Center has closed.  This was on my "maybe" list but I decided not to submit.  It's a perfectly framed golden retriever in an RV-- but probably not what the judges are looking for!  Stay tuned for entries selected and exhibit dates.

This afternoon photographer Robert Cason and the Humane Society offered Christmas pictures of canine friends with Santa Paws today as a fund-raiser.  The dog owners were more enthusiastic than the pets.

sad

I was one of Sandy's entries in the 8th Annual "Putting on the Dog" photography exhibit; unfortunately we weren't selected.  However, she did have a Brittney Spaniel's photo accepted.  Watch for the exhibit coming in June at the International Cultural Center.

flower dog

I wasn't the only one shopping for flowers today at the garden center.  Lenny the whippet admired the geraniums.

buddy holly

After spending time as a stray, Buddy Holly ended up in the driver's seat.  His adopted owner said the dog visited at least three houses on his street before deciding on his new home.  Named after the hometown idol, Buddy is a star in his own right.

walkin' in the rain - head down in shame

The past few days of clouds and rain reminded me of this photo.  It appeared this pooch was embarrassed to be seen -- either because of the owner's get-up or that awful pink doggie raincoat.

k-9

It's time for the annual "Putting on the Dog" photograph exhibit so I was reviewing my dog pictures.  This one is more snapshot than fine art photography but is indicative of the time I've been spending in airport.  Perhaps it fits in the category of "working dog." (And yes, I had asked the smiling officer if I could photograph!)  Nothing I had "alerted" the dog so my passage was secure.

best buds

This pot-bellied pig has been a resident on the Tohono-O'odham Nation Reservation for at least 15 years (he was much smaller back then).  His best bud is the dog.  They share the shade and also the dog house in the rear.  Every time we've driven by this house, the pig and the dog are side-by-side.

the world on texas avenue

This morning while eating breakfast at the Ranch House, I saw the world roll by on Texas Avenue.  Not one to pass up a photo op, I ran to the car and got my camera.  Erik and his dog Nice (as in "nice doggy") are on a personal mission of diabetes awareness.  They have logged thousands of miles with today's goal of Albuquerque -- or at least the KOA campground on US 84.  To learn more about the world guy, visit his blog.  His message -- go for a walk.
