The feral cats in Lubbock have friends.  One had just dropped off Friskies and water for the cats living at the old power plant.  Located at 5th and Avenue J, the electric plant was the first in Lubbock and dates back to 1917.  Its occupants are now cats and pigeons.



It was a great day for playing in the leaves.

Get off the main streets and wander down some alleys.  Sometimes you find the most interesting sights.

This kitten was a gift to a four-year old who won't touch animals and his 16-month sister who treats it like a stuffed toy.  Grassy (named by the brother) will certainly grow up tough!  She came with a complete layette - leopard print cat igloo, litter box, scratching post, feeding bowl and water stand plus toys.  None of my cats ever had such accoutrements!

Evidently the cat didn't realize the business was closed on Sunday, but still decided a bit of sunshine on the window ledge was in order.

Eleven months of the year Bill and Frances Chancy are typical Tahoka residents but come December they become Mr. and Mrs. Claus when their place south of town is transformed into Santa Land.  Visitors may drive through the four acres of light displays, nativity scenes, inflatable reindeer  and cartoon cut-outs.  Then you can park and visit with the Clauses - even the farm cat gets into the act!

Santa depends on donations to decorate the wonderland.  Who knew that empty bulk canola oil containers would make a Santa Land frame work for arches and fences and square presents!  The wonderful sunset was donated by Mother Nature.
