The formal name of the place is Tahoka Lake Pasture, and yes, one drives an unpaved road through the pasture to get there. This gentleman didn't seem too concerned about our arrival but I still shot from the car!  About 20 yards off the road with no fence!

texas longhorns

 

I spotted this herd of Texas longhorns in Fredericksburg.  They don't require much pasture land nor feed; however, they might be subject to vandalism if relocated to Texas Tech country.

You might think I photographed this longhorn out on the lone prairie but, nope, it was in town.  I parked at the EZMart, walked back down Milwaukee Avenue and took the shot. The street traffic didn't seem to bother him but he noticed the photographer.  Then, someone slammed the dumpster lid and off he took. A lot in Terra Estates comes with acreage, barns, horses - and even cattle!
