ghost of san elizario

We visited the Chapel at San Elizario on a hot June morning.  The advertised Ghost Tour occurs in the evening and seems primarily devoted to Billy the Kid.  However, as I photographed the doors of the chapel, I felt watched.

the door

Old doors with their mysterious stories are intriguing.  I love everything about this door (except the price!) -- the turquoise color, the peeling paint, the carved motif and especially the fist-shaped knocker (purportedly from Egypt). But what would I do with an eight-foot door?

light and airy

Although not historic, another Lubbock landmark bites the dust.  Hub Homes, off 4th and Sherman Avenue was one of the housing projects built after WWII.

heart to heart

Hearts in honor of the holiday.  Although these may be lonely hearts -- stuck out on the unused barn.  However, this retro mid-century aluminum screen door is back in vogue.  The actual  purpose of the decorative grill was to keep the kids from busting out the screen -- although this model had glass.  The grill could feature your initial, but I like these hearts for Valentines.

door series #2
casa azul

By definition, a series is "a number of things of a related nature coming one after another."  So by posting a second image of a door from Old Town Tucson, I've created a series!

marks the spot

To Julie Andrews' list of favorite things, I would add doors.  This door is apropos on so many levels:  old building, corrugated tin, strong graphics, triangles and rectangles!  Evidently I'm not the only photographer fascinated by doors -- visit  the Legion of Door Whores for more portals.
