morado

A recent issue of "Outdoor Photography" featured black/white and infrared photography. It inspired me to rework some of my images.

cabin in the cottonwoods

While looking for "nature" shots for the Facebook challenge that was bestowed upon me, I came across this image from a few years ago and decided it could use some work.  I think the enhanced light in the window adds interest.  Otherwise, the cottonwood were great in the fall sunshine.

art

If you can't find original art to grace your wall in the multitude of galleries in Santa Fe, then go with the popular Southwest motif of cow skulls.  If you don't find a skull lying around on the ranch, then one may be purchased from a shop surrounding the Plaza.  Georgia O’Keeffe said of the sun-bleached bones and skulls she found in the desert. “To me they are as beautiful as anything I know...they are strangely more living than the animals walking around. The bones seem to cut sharply to the center of something that is keenly alive on the desert even tho’ it is vast and empty and untouchable—and knows no kindness with all its beauty.”

photo shoot models

These photogenic sheep at the colonial reenactment museum were excellent models. Their curiosity in staring at the photographers afforded good poses. The nine students probably took hundreds of images of the willing sheep.

morado de la conquistadora

We didn't have typical Santa Le sunshine and light for the excursion to Las Golondrinas. It was overcast and spitting snow until about 4:00 when the big, feathery flakes began falling.
