winter garden

It may be beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but it certainly doesn't feel like it!  With today's 66 degrees and clear blue skies, keep out the patio furniture a little longer.

cubism

Cubism: artistic style using geometric shapes; developed in the early 20th century and emphasizes the representation of natural forms as geometric shapes seen from several angles.  The subterranean patio of the Rawls College of Business resembles abstract art.  It is deserted not only because students have left for Thanksgiving break but also due to 40-degree weather.  I went to photograph the new bear/bull sculptures but found the patio more interesting.

shadows on brick

At high noon today at the Buddy Holly Center, I was attracted by the shadows of the patio furniture.  BHC is situated in the old train depot (hence the name "Depot District") and a set of rails still can be seen in the courtyard.  These bricks would have stories to tell from nights of the Depot Bar & Grill -- long before the District was a concept.
