gear shift

When going to an event like "Junk in the Trunk" it's not surprising to see a junked truck out front.  This 1940s International pickup will never be driven again -- but it makes great yard art.

parking lot abstract

The red wheel on this vintage pickup caught my eye.  In high school I drove a similar-colored pickup -- it wasn't vintage though, just a used '59 Chevy Fleetside with yellow wheels.  It had "four on the floor" but no horsepower.  We got it up to 78 mph once coming off the overpass.

stick shift

My phone and I went for a walk at the Ranching Heritage Center this morning. The purpose was two-fold:  exercise and practicing photography with my phone.  The result?  2.093 miles on the pedometer, some perspiration, a few inadvertent selfies, and this image of the old DeSoto pickup on display.  Brought back memories of my high school ride - 1959 green Chevy pickup with stick shift, but I had a radio!

country rustic

The rains have brought a profusion of wildflowers (or weeds by other names) which make even run-down places look scenic.

1984 el camino

Hale Center has beautified downtown with murals depicting its history--from farming and ranching to the train station and the newspaper office.  A business man also got into the spirit, asking sign painter Steven Garcia to immortalize his 1984 El Camino pickup on the front of his business.  Visit downtown Hale Center (it won't take long to do the main drag) and check out the art.

political pickup

The driver of this F-150 Ford embraces freedom of speech so much that the bumpers stickers cover the tailgate.  The political opinions of the Ford may not necessarily be those of the photographer.
