"Follow the Smoke" is a BBQ joint in Brownfield, but don't follow the smoke on a Saturday or Sunday --they're not open.  The sign is neat but it bothers me that the cowboy just has red pegs and no boots.

What first drew me to this red building was the pile of auto parts.  As I got closer I admired the decorative, corrugated tin door.  Then I noticed the shadow of the nearby water tower and the filigree of the power line connectors.  Red became the background.

the alamo at brownfield

No, I've not been to San Antonio recently. This Alamo is in Brownfield, Texas It was the gymnasium at the Brownfield Intermediate School which burned in 2001. It became a youth and event center in 2003 and volunteers painted the facade.

This red building, formerly housing Hamilton Auto Parts, is at the corner of 5th and Tate, just down the block from the defunct Starz movie theater.
